Outpatient rehabilitation
Outpatient rehabilitation allows you to receive the care you need to regain strength and maximize independence, while still being able to live in the comforts of your own home. With the variety of reasons you may need this type of care, we work closely with providers in the area to provide all forms of rehabilitation under one roof. We also consolidate appointments, so if you are receiving multiple types of care, you can complete all your appointments in a row.
If you have experienced a cardiac event, our hospital also offers cardiac rehabilitation. In addition, if you have a pulmonary condition, such as asthma or chronic bronchitis, we offer pulmonary rehabilitation services.
Rehabilitation appointments are offered between 7:00am and 6:00pm, Monday through Friday, across the street from the EIRMC emergency room:
2840 Channing Way
Idaho Falls, ID 83404
To receive care from our team, we need a referral from your provider specifying what type of service you need, along with a diagnosis. We accept all major insurances, as well as Medicare and Medicaid. To refer someone to our rehabilitation program, please call (208) 529-7999.

Occupational therapists (OTs) often work alongside physical therapists (PTs), using adaptive equipment and advanced techniques to help prevent muscle atrophy, minimize and prevent abnormalities, minimize pain and increase pain tolerance. We also offer pediatric occupational therapy services for children up to 18 years old.
Physical therapy
PTs focus on helping you get back on your feet. They show you how to do exercises and stretch to build strength, increase flexibility and improve range of motion. Depending on your condition, physical therapy may begin while you are still in the hospital, then continue on an outpatient basis.
Speech-language pathology
Speech-language pathologists are healthcare professionals who focus on cognition, speech, language, swallowing and upper aerodigestive functional abilities. Our speech-language pathologists treat both adults and children, assessing your progress so they can prepare your family to help you.
We are the only facility in the Eastern Idaho region with tertiary care training in voice, breathing and larynx (voice box) disorder management. In addition, we offer specialized training in the management of fluency disorders (including stuttering) for adults. We also host outside pediatric speech-language pathologists who work with newborns, children and teens.
Further, our team performs the fiberoptic endoscopic evaluation of swallowing test. This test is able to assess the motor and sensory aspects of swallowing, so we can help guide diet and behaviors if you are experiencing difficulty swallowing. Additionally, we offer the modified barium swallow exam, as well as bedside assessment with a certified swallow treatment provider.
