Admission criteria

There could be many different reasons you may need physical therapy, but criteria for admission to our program includes:

  • Age limit — Must be 12 years old and older.
  • Functional need — An adolescent or adult who needs at least two therapies (activities of daily living, cognition, mobility, etc.) and has the ability to participate and improve in an intense, comprehensive, multidisciplinary program.
  • Medical need — There needs to be a reasonable expectation of close physician involvement and nursing oversight.
  • Therapy intensity — At least three hours per day for five days or 15 hours in seven days (if you have Medicare, you have up to three days to meet these criteria).

Being admitted directly from the hospital is not required, as you may also be admitted from home or a medical doctor's office. Before admission, our team verifies insurance benefits and identifies what is covered throughout the program, as well as what insurance covers after discharge. We highly recommend family members take an active role in clarifying which services are covered by the insurance company to ensure there are no financial surprises.
