Imaging services

Imaging exams allow radiologists (imaging specialists) and physicians to view structures and activity within the body. This is vital for diagnosis but also for treatment, to ensure your care plan is working as it should.

Radiology and imaging services we offer

To identify your condition and determine the best, most personalized treatment for you, our specialists are able to perform both minimally invasive procedures and diagnostic tests.

Advanced radiology services

The majority of our imaging services are obtained and managed by a fully digital environment. This advanced technology allows our healthcare providers to access digital images and test results from anywhere there is internet access, usually within minutes of a diagnostic procedure.

Computerized tomography (CT) scan

A CT scan provides detailed diagnostic information for all areas of the body. Biopsies and other treatments can be performed using CT scans. We also offer CT scans for your heart, as well as moving CT scans so your doctor can assess your body in motion.

Endoscopy

An endoscope is a long, flexible tube with a tiny camera that allows doctors to view internal organs and other areas throughout the body.

We offer endoscopic retrograde cholangiopancreatography (ERCP), which allows our physicians to insert tiny instruments through an endoscope to obtain tissue samples, open bile ducts and remove gallstones or polyps.

This high-level endoscopic technology is only offered at a few select hospitals in the area, and we are proud to offer it to you.

Interventional radiology

With minimally invasive interventional radiology procedures, we can treat cerebrovascular accidents (strokes), tumors and narrowed blood vessels. During these procedures, we are able to safely examine and open blocked blood vessels by using catheters passed through the arteries, as opposed to having to use more traditional, invasive procedures that can have greater effects on you. These approaches can result in faster recovery times and improved quality of life.

Magnetic resonance imaging (MRI)

MRIs create detailed images of the body using powerful magnets and radiofrequency waves. By using these magnets and radio waves, we are able to view soft-tissue anatomy and potential conditions with a greater level detail than with an X-ray, ultrasound or CT scan.

Mammography

A mammogram uses low-energy X-rays to examine the breasts for concerning lumps or cancerous cells. If you are in need of breast health services, we offer 3D mammography, which allows the breast tissue to be examined in multiple layers, as opposed to a flat image, as with conventional 2D mammography. In a 3D mammogram, fine details are more visible and no longer hidden by surrounding tissues.

Nuclear medicine

Nuclear medicine is a specialized area of imaging using tiny amounts of radioactive material to review organ function and structure. Using a powerful camera to track the path of the radioactive material, we are able to gain detailed information about physiological functions in the body, as opposed to just anatomical detail. We perform both diagnostic and therapeutic nuclear medicine procedures.

Ultrasound

Commonly called sonography or ultrasonography, ultrasound uses high-frequency sound waves to display real-time, moving 3D images on a monitor. No radiation is involved, which allows for diagnostic and therapeutic options, as well as high-risk pregnancy ultrasonography.

X-ray

A common diagnostic tool used in healthcare, X-rays are a form of electromagnetic radiation, just like visible light. Individual particles (photons) pass through the body and are detected by a highly sensitive imaging plate, transmitted into a sharp, digital image.

Additional testing options

We also offer other diagnostic imaging services for specific needs, including:

  • Bone densitometry — This procedure typically sends a low-dose X-ray beam through the hip and spine to create pictures of internal body structures
  • Fluoroscopy — A type of imaging showing a continuous X-ray image on a monitor
  • Stereotactic breast biopsy — A nonsurgical method of assessing breast abnormalities using X-rays to guide the instruments to the growth site
